LOS ANGELES (AP) – On its opening weekend, the thriller “Jumper” landed atop the box office.
The Hayden Christensen/Samuel L. Jackson film brought in $27.2 million.
Debuting in second place was Disney’s “Step Up 2 the Streets.” The teen dance sequel pulled in nearly 20 million for the weekend.
Paramount’s family fantasy “The Spiderwick Chronicles” opened in third place, with just over $19 million.
The previous weekend’s top movie, “Fool’s Gold,” fell to fourth place. The romantic comedy earned $13.1 million, raising its 10-day total to 42 million.
Universal’s romance “Definitely, Maybe,” with Ryan Reynolds as a dad looking back on his love life after being served with divorce papers, opened at number five. It had a a weekend haul of 9.7 million.
